Crowbar Demolitions can work closely with “A class” contractors for removal of friable asbestos.

Crowbar Demolitions can arrange for an industry standard assessment survey (known as Division 5) to identify the presence and type of asbestos, and subsequent Division 6 survey prior to any works to identify and apply suitable risk control methods to protect demolition workers.

On completion, a visual clearance inspection is done by a specialised hygienist.

What is asbestos, and do you have it?

For years, asbestos was used as a building material because of its high resistance to fire. When asbestos remains undisturbed, it generally causes no problems. However, if you’re attempting a remodeling or demolition project, any work will disturb the asbestos. When asbestos fibres become airborne and are inhaled, they can cause a variety of serious health issues, including lung cancer.

Asbestos is a hidden danger. You may not even know it is there. No matter what type of remodelling or demolition project you’re undertaking, there’s a possibility you’re dealing with asbestos. Once considered safe, it’s been used in building and manufacturing applications over many decades up until the 1990’s, and often remains as a hidden threat.

If you are unsure as to whether you have it in your home or business, we can facilitate for a sample of the suspect material to be tested. Please contact us for instructions on how to safely do this.

There are two types of asbestos: Friable (A class) and Non- Friable (B class).

Friable asbestos means when dry, or as a result of a work process, the material can be crumbled, crushed or reduced to powder by hand pressure.

Non-Friable asbestos means when dry, the material cannot be crumbled, crushed or reduced to powder by hand pressure. For example, cement sheeting.
